In each separate section, we sought to identify some failings and shortcomings
of the particular models being reviewed. At this point we think it important
to review both the strengths and weaknesses of the whole literature, which in
some sense is an evaluation of the economic or maximization model approach to
the study of interest groups. Except for Olson's work, much of the rest of the
literature we have reviewed has been considered in only a desultory fashion by
political scientists.
