2.1.3. Ultrasound–Ultraviolet treatment
Orange juice was treated in a combined operation using both ultrasound and ultraviolet light. Ultrasound parameters were set in the same manner as mentioned in the earlier section on ultrasound treatment and an additional effect was created by exposing the juice sample to ultraviolet light simultaneously along with ultrasound. The juice was placed in a quartz beaker into which the ultrasound probe was immersed, along with stirring using magnetic stirrer. At either side of the beaker, 2 UV lamps with power rating of 8 W each were placed vertically parallel to each other. The entire set up was covered by a box and black cloth for safety reasons.
