Water deficit significantly reduced leaf area, fresh weight
and dry weight of Chinese kale and Caisin by more than half.
It reduced leaf number in Chinese kale by 38% but had no
effect on the production of leaves in Caisin. In contrast to
waterlogging, water dificit increased the concentration of
nitrogen in the leaf dry matter by more than 60% and doubled
the chlorophyll concentration in both species (Table 1).
