The industrial revolution, which occurred first in British in the 18th century and then in the rest of Western Europe and the United States in the 19th century, completing changed society in the western world. In a relatively short period of time economies in the countries were changed from an agricultural economy based in the countryside to an industrial economy based in urban areas. On the whole, industrialization led to an increase in the overall Standard of living as well as to the growth of the middle class. But for the newly created industrial working class life was not so good.
