The present
observation disagrees with the previous findings that
no increase in pod yields of okra was observed with
leaf removal (e.g. Olasantan 1988), and it confirms
the physiological difference between effects of leaf
removal and pruning on growth and pod yields of
okra. Overall, pruning a quarter or half of the foliage
provided a good strategy for growing okra for both
leaves and pods and seemed to be the best option to
achieve the highest yields of okra plants.
