Chiang Mai. Known as the “Rose of the North”. It’s the northern capital of Thailand. Not as sprawling as Bangkok, but definitely fairly modern. It has great night spots, a fantastic market, and all of those tiger sanctuaries that you see in the pictures of people trying to impress their friends.
Pai. A tiny village on the northern loop from Chiang Mai. It’s very Rasta, very chill, and very tourist oriented, without being as kitschy or over-the-top as Bangkok. Definitely a good place to meet foreigners and Thai locals alike (the walking street is fantastic), and there are great places to drink and even groove a bit.
Keep in mind that, despite the fact that Thailand is in the tropics, it’s COLD in the north if you’re there during the winter months. The north of Thailand is far enough north that there is an absolutely drastic temperature change when you head up there. So definitely keep that in mind if you’re travelling during the winter months. Many people – including myself – have learned that lesson the hard way.
South:
Bangkok. Bangkok is a place you just need to experience. Go to Khaosan Road. It’s a near 24/7 indoor/outdoor party street and district in Bangkok. Don’t only go to Khaosan. But make sure to go to Khaosan.
Koh Phan-ngan. “Koh” means island. And Phan-ngan has the infamous half moon and full moon beach parties. These are some of the most unreal experiences you will ever have.
Koh Samui. A beautiful island for relaxation and partying.
Koh Phi Phi. Probably the most untouched Thai island. You’ll feel like you’ve walked into a nature magazine when you are there. Hell, even getting there on a rickety boat is phenomenal. The women will definitely take care of you as well.
Krabi. With its centralized southern location, Krabi is a great southern spot for meeting outgoing people and establishing a hub to explore the rest of the south.
Phuket. The capital for outdoor junkies. Rock climbers, surfers, and connoisseurs of sports and illicit materials alike all congregate in Phuket.
Pattaya. Go to Pattaya…for the experience.

Avoid the Ladyboys
What’s a ladyboy? An Asian transvestite. But really, the cultural significance of the ladyboy in Thailand extends much deeper than that. It’s truly considered a third gender over there. Some men like that. And if that’s you, then who am I to judge? But if that’s not you, and you’re not curious, then avoid the ladyboys. And believe me, as I’ve mentioned in all of my references to Southeast Asia – sometimes, it can be trickier than you think.
Thai Girls Love Non-Asian Men
Thai women will marry Thai men, but only if they have to. Thai women absolutely love non-Asian men. They love white men. And they love black men. Thai men (and most Asians) are very mild and can be somewhat effeminate if they are younger, so Thai girls definitely want the energy and boisterousness of foreign blood. Moreover, there is more economic potential with foreign men. And if we know anything about women, it’s that they’re always looking to secure resources. So use this to your advantage.
Don’t Forget About Foreign Girls
I know this is a post about Thai girls…but…don’t forget that there are scores of foreign women travelling through Thailand looking for an adventure and an unforgettable time too.
Wrapping Up
I’ve never heard of anyone having a bad time in Thailand. There are simply too many people to meet, too much havoc to wreak, and too many memories to be made. There’s a reason why everyone goes there. And there’s a reason why many of those people never come back.
So, this post is as much about Thai girls as it is about going and seeing the place they live for yourself. Because if you do, I assure you that in more ways than one, the Land of Smiles will send you off with a shit-eating grin of your own.
