Team Singapore's rhythmic gymnasts dominated proceedings at the Bishan Sports Hall to win the country's first-ever group all-around gold medal on Sunday (Jun 14) .
Exclusively for women, rhythmic gymnastics is an amalgamation of ballet, gymnastics and dance. In the group competition, gymnasts have to execute smooth exchange of apparatus with fellow team members, while performing their routines.
The group all-around finals consisted of two rotations. The rhythmic gymnasts had to compete with ribbons in the first rotation, and with clubs and hoops in the second rotation.The team comprising of Dawne Chua, Noelle Goh, Edlyn Ho, Ann Sim and Alison Tang gave a stunning performance; the crowd "oohed" and "wowed" as they flipped and tumbled their way to bag the gold medal for Singapore.
