Jordanian law does not contain any reference to the definition of outer space or the differentiation between space flights for scientific purposes and those for transport purposes.
The Royal Jordanian Geographical Centre is currently engaged in an examination of relevant international legislation with a view to preparing a statutory form in Jordan, the objective of which will be to maintain national rights and sovereignty in space, as well as to define the resulting duties.
Taking into consideration the fact that Jordan has become a State member of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, a recommendation has been made to establish a commission, to be chaired by the Director-General of the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education for Western Asia, affiliated to the United Nations, comprising delegates from the Centre and from the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, as well as a legal adviser from the Military Judicial Directorate, with a view to preparing a specific law on the issue.
