The practical significance of increased PUFA and decreased mercury
levels in the tissues of farmed SBT can be evaluated by calculating
the number of fish meals required to attain recommended
daily intakes of EPA and DHA for consumer populations. Daily
DHA and EPA dietary requirements vary according to the health
status of consumers. Current international recommendations are
that infants and healthy adults consume 0.5 g/day, patients with
coronary heart disease (CHD) consume an average of 1 g/day and
patients with hyperglyceridemia disorder (HD) consume up to
4 g/day in conjunction with mental consultation
