An Apple SIM is a SIM card produced by Apple and is currently pre-installed on iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 for both cellular and wireless models. This SIM card will allow customers to have the flexibility to choose from a variety of short-term plans from select carriers when they travel and when they use their device locally.
A. If a customer brings in their device with what they expect to be an Apple SIM issue, please troubleshoot their device first by referring to SIM Card Issues (IT856). When a repair is necessary, follow the procedure based on your country.
1. Apple Retail Stores with Apple SIMs in stock should create an Accessory Swap to replace the defective Apple SIM. All countries with Apple Retail Stores should have Apple SIMs in stock except for Brazil, China and Hong Kong.
2. Apple Retail Stores that do not have Apple SIMs in stock and Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) should order a replacement Apple SIM for the customer.
