BEIJING- A joint expedition of Chinese , Soviet and US climbers who had planned to celebrate "Earth Day" by conquering Everest together finally reached the summit yesterday , 15 day late because of bad weather.
The official New China News Agency said two climbers from each country made it to the top of the 29,028 feet (8,848 meters ) mountain from the Chinese side in Tibet early in the afternoon.
The team planned to clear up piles of rubbish left on the world's highest peak by previous expedition Reuter.
