Herein, we report the use of choline hydrogen carbonate for
capture of free fatty acids by neutralization, in a model mixture
(oleic acid:squalene 1:1 (w/w)). The separation of squalene from
the reaction mixture by supercritical carbon dioxide, extraction
and optimization of the process parameters were also investigated.
This methodology was then applied to olive oil deodorizer distillate
sample.
