There are many kinds of sub-classes within the world of Elder Tale because the number is expended in almost every version update, and different localization servers all have their unique kinds of sub-class choice. Therefore, the total number of sub-class are hard to estimate, but can be generally divide into three types. It is important to note that Experience Point for sub-classes are independent from the Main Class, and most of the skills from sub-classes can be trained without being in a party, provided one put dedication and resources into it. Not to mention that one can easily switch between sub-classes provided that they are willing to give up experience points and start over from scratch. However, a character can only have one sub-class at a time.
Production
May create or craft items by combining materials and using tools, or utilize resource and equipment to enhance or repair items and equipment. There are many players who instead of fighting monsters and challenging dungeons, enjoy focusing their effort on crafting items and supporting their comrades using various resources through trading. Guilds that dedicate themselves to crafting and trading are typically centered around Production type sub-classes and holds important influence in Elder Tale's economy.

Chef
The Chef subclass allows the player to create food by picking and combining ingredients via the menu. After doing so, the desired food item will appear, looking identical to it's real-life counterpart, however, the food created will have no taste whatsoever, being described as "wet crackers" or "mush". This has proven to be incredibly discouraging to players. After creating the food, they can sell it to NPC merchants, who in turn can sell it to other adventurers.
To create food with actual taste, the player must prepare and cook the ingredients themself without relying on the menu command system. However, players without the Chef subclass cannot handle ingredients, turning into a strange purple or gray goo every time they try to cook it. Only a Chef can cook ingredients in Elder Tale, making Chef's popular players.

Role-Playing
Sub-classes that focus more on playing a role rather than creating item, typically grant special bonus on action or unique skills when playing the game. Role-Playing sub-classes popularity is varied significantly because of their usefulness. Many sub-classes in this category fall in obscurity over time, for example, experience point bonus from Apprentice, price reduction from Merchant, and Berserker’s boosted state through skills attract more players than Housekeeper’s ability to clean up the environment when managing real estate. Not to mention that some of the tasks can be completed by employing NPC's as long as you have money (such as paying an NPC Housekeeper or Butler to manage your house or room in order to avoid penalty fees).

A subclass suited for activities at sea. Aside from fishing, this subclass reduces the penalties for fighting underwater, such as allowing the player to fight longer without going up for air. In addition, it also works as a "Slayer" class against aquatic creatures.
It was a popular subclass when implemented during the Silver Odyssey expansion in 2003, where ocean stages and ships were added. At the time, it was one of the most popular classes to let players catch up with the expansion's content. Popularity of this subclass has decreased over time.

Sigilmancer
Sigilmancers are capable of engraving special signs on targets. While they are incapable of creating items themselves, they can engrave sigils on existing items to add additional effects. Sigils can even be engraved on a person's flesh, the resulting tattoo enhancing and adding special abilities of the recipient. However, to prevent the use of tattooed signs in conjunction with powerful equipment, if the area that is tattooed is hidden behind armor, the sigil will have no effect until the armor is removed again.
The technique of fighting with engraved sigils rather than gear is often nicknamed "Tattoo Style" among players. It is a good style for the classes that wear light armor, such as the Monk or the spellcasters, but is less compatible with the heavy-armored classes like the Guardian.
Swordsmith
A variant of the Blacksmith subclass, Swordsmiths specialize in creating weapons. It is sometimes considered a masochistic subclass, as the player restricts himself to only create weapons, making the class harder to level. High-level Swordsmiths are rare, but in great demand due to the amount of sword-using players.
Tracker
The class for people who wish to get by unseen, the Tracker subclass is most famous for it's two signature moves "Silent Move" and "Sneak." The former letting the player move without making a sound, and the later allowing the player to vanish from view.
Undead Hunter
Players with this subclass gain a variety of bonuses when fighting against undead-type monsters, such as increased damage and resistance to the attacks of undead.

Title
Titles are a special sub-class that can only be unlocked if player complete specific task or achievement. Some of these sub-classes are considered legendary among players because only limited number of people may choose this class based on server restriction. Many of the Title type sub-class have already been acquired by famous and legendary players since the start of the story, and most of them grant immense advantage both in and outside of battle. Unique skill sets, cross class power and lifting equipment restrictions are only small piece of the iceberg, but nevertheless Titles are hardly game breaking due to the difficulty to acquire them and the co-operative design Elder Tale's combat is base on.
