1.Heat oven to 375 F. Place sheets of foil on countertop for cooling cookies.
2. Combine brown sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at low speed of electric mixer until blended. Increase speed to high. Beat 2 minutes. Add melted chocolate. Mix well.
3. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add gradually to shortening mixture at low speed.
4. Stir in chocolate chips, chocolate pieces and nuts with spoon. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
5. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until set. Do not over bake. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets. Remove cookies to foil to cool completely.
