In this study, the adsorption capacity of peat relative to methylene blue (MB) was evaluated to test its
application in textile wastewater treatment. Adsorption was conducted using varied initial concentrations of MB solutions at three different temperatures (35, 45 and 60 C). The equilibrium data fitted well
the Langmuir isotherm with the maximum adsorption capacity increasing with temperature from
190 mg g 1 to 240 mg g 1 . In all experiments the adsorption equilibrium was attained in 4.5 h. Thermodynamic data showed that MB adsorption onto peat is endothermic and spontaneous under the experimental conditions employed. Briefly, peat exhibited rapid adsorption capabilities and high efficiency in
removal of MB from aqueous solution
