2006; Meulenbroeks, van Meijel, & Winter, 1998; Reed, 2008; Rogers, 2006; Sousa, 1998; Sousa & Frazier, 2004; Stevens & Sin, 2005). Several strategies can help nurses establish a recip- rocal relationship: attempt to understand, friendliness, tuning in, revealing oneself, being there for the patient, and maintaining confidentiality.
