The age at boar exposure ,the weight and ADG at puberty as well as the weight and ADG at mating were in fluenced by BiW (Table1). Gilts weighing 410–990 g at birth were older at boar exposure than gilts of heavier BiW classes (Table1; Po0.05). The two lightest BiW classes had the weight at puberty and ADG until puberty lower than gilts of the two heaviest classes(Po0.0001). Gilts of the three lightest BiW classes were lighter (Po0.001) at first mating than those of the two heaviest BiW classes but the age at first mating was similar among BiW classes(P¼ 0.120).The ADG at puberty and mating was higher in the three lightest BiW classes compared with the two heaviest classes(Table1).
