Lactobacillus acidophilus CECT 903 was obtained from the Spanish
Type Culture Collection. Frozen stock culture was maintained at
−70 °C. The microorganism was cultured anaerobically (GenBox Jar
2.5 L with GenBox Anaer generators; or 20% CO2 atmosphere oven) at
37 °C in MRS broth or MRS agar obtained from either Scharlau Chemie
(Barcelona, Spain) or Pronadisa (Madrid, Spain)
