The colonization of an endophytic fungus Acremonium coenophialum Morgan-Jones et. Gams in tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) deterred the feeding of Rhopalosiphum padi Rondani and Schizaphis graminum Rondani (Johnson et al. 1985). In addition, Sabzalian et al. (2004) reported the significant inhibition of population growth of mealybug Phenococcus solani Ferris and barley aphid, Sipha maydis Passerini, on fungal endophyte-infected tall and meadow fescues. Morever, the larval growth of Popillae japonica beetle larvae also inhibited in infected Taraxacum laxum by an endophyte Neotypodium sp. (Richmond et al. 2004).
