pH can effect growth of microorganisms either directly or indirectly by affecting the availability of nutrients or
directly by action on cell surfaces. The metabolic activities of microorganisms are sensitive to pH changes and the
pH of culture media has marked effect on the type and amount of enzyme produced. Changes in pH may also cause
