Table 10.5 and 10.6 show the unemployment rates as per the fifty-fifth round and sixty-first round of the NSSO for rural areas and urban areas of India, respectively. As one could see from the tables, unemployment rates were lower in rural areas than in urban areas for both males and females. Within the rural areas, unemployment rates for males were higher than those for women, except for Current Daily Status (CDS) sixty-first round. But in the urban areas, the opposite was true.
