(total mortality per milligram per liter of concentration in
water) were subjected to probit analysis in which probittransformed
mortality was regressed against log10-transformed
dose; LC50, LC90 values, and slopes were generated
(Finney 1971).
Effects of exposure of larvae on dose of LC50 level on
larvae survival, pupae formation (pupation) and adult emergence
for each tested material was determined by one-way
analysis of variance followed by a Student–Newman–Keuls
post hoc test for comparison of survival rates at different
time intervals (Sokal and Rohlf 1995).
Data concerning the repellency of ΕΟs and their components
(mosquito landings) were analyzed using Kruskal–
Wallis test. When significant differences were detected,
Mann–Whitney U tests were carried out for pair-wise comparison.
Bonferroni correction was applied to correct for 66
pair-wise comparisons leading to an adjusted a00.0006.
All analyses were conducted using the statistical package
SPSS 14.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, 2004).
