Our second major finding was that in our sample extraversion
was the strongest contributor to the friends domain. That the trait
of extraversion is a meaningful correlate of the friends domain is
consistent with research showing relations between extraversion
and higher quality of friendships (e.g., Demir & Weitekamp,
2007). Furthermore, extraverted individuals report having more
friends, and experiencing less conflict in their relationships (e.g.,
Demir & Weitekamp, 2007). Hence, friendships that are high in
quality and low in conflict are perhaps crucial factors experiencing
higher satisfaction, and thus a greater goodness of fit between
extraverted individuals and their peers. Extraversion was also the
strongest predictor of satisfaction with the self. This finding is consistent
with research demonstrating that extraversion is positively
linked to self-concept clarity (e.g., Pomerance & Converse, 2014).
