4. Conclusions
1. An attempt to estimate the temperature regime during epoxy
curing in microwave field has been made. It has been
commented that both mass and dielectric characteristics of
substrate (or container) and cured epoxy can alter the
temperature evolution during the curing. However, the temperature
regime can be well predicted for practical purposes
applying the procedure explained in this study.
2. We have commented that the modifying of epoxy matrices by
blending uncured epoxy resin with PET prior to curing yields
sub-micro (nano-) phase separation and efficient toughening
effect of the epoxy matrices.
3. The possibilities to facilitate the toughening effect are: to
decrease the molecular mass and to increase the content of the
PET modifier. Such effect can be realized by slight hydrolysis of
the renewable PET thermoplastic.
