. Undoubtedly, the unusually warm and calm conditions in
September-October 1994 facilitated the outgrowth of A.ovalisporum, but, while
necessary, such conditions would not provide sufficient reason for the observed
bloom. Moreover, although there was a similar period of low winds (and low
turbulence) in the late summer-fall of 1995, and although A.ovalisporum was
present, it did not dominate the assemblage or reach bloom proportions.
