Table 1 produced from data computed within RMAP, shows inter-survey shoreline changes (myr−1). The period between 1947 and 1965 showed a dramatic increase (10.18 myr−1) that equated to an overall advance of 183 m along the frontage of Ginst Spit. The advancing trend continued until 1966 but had retreated by 102 m by 1986 (10.17 myr−1), followed by an advance during the intervening 14 yr period that equated to 71 m (7.85 myr−1 and 2.87 myr−1 respectively). All that was gained between 1986 and 2000 was lost by the end of the assessment were the shoreline retreated by 109 m (9.48 myr−1 and 17.44 myr−1 respectively).
