Firefighters in Burke County are trying to figure out how a fire started inside a large storage unit at a factory.
Valdese Fire Chief Charles Watts tells WBTV all workers inside the Valdese Weaver Plant had to evacuate around one Friday morning. Watts says the fire damaged a lot of yarn and thread inside the textile plant. Watts says firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading beyond the unit.
All the employees who were evacuated were not allowed to return to work. Chief Watts estimates operations will be up and running again in the early afternoon, in time for the start of second shift.
It's not clear exactly how much it will cost the company to repair the damage.
No one was hurt.
