Both the MTT and LDH assays for measurement of cell viability are rapid and reliable methods. In testing for drug sensitivity, a good correlation has been found between these two methods.27
The MTT method cannot be used for all cell types as described earlier. A major advantage of the LDH assay is that it is very sensitive. Neurons that have a relatively high level of the LDH enzyme are commonly assayed for viability by this method.12
