The growth of axillary stems was induced by the removal of
flower buds in stages 1 and 2 from normal and BPP main stems.
Immediately thereafter, the cut was smeared with 150 ml lanolin
(control) or lanolin containing 11.4 103 M IAA or 104 M NPA.
Axillary stems were allowed to develop, and BPP incidence was
assessed. At least 50 main stems were used, and 150 axillary stems
were evaluated in each treatment.
