Plastic products can contain chemicals that are hazardous to human health and the environment. In this study, it was investigated if various plastic products emit hazardous chemical substances to water. Two leaching methods (batch and diffusion tests) were used and the leachates were tested for acute toxicity to Daphnia carinata 24 hour and 48 hour LC50 were determined with a software program which uses moving average, probit and approximate values (CETISTM v 1.8.8.2). The mean and standard deviation for the four replicates of each product were also determined. ANOVAs and post-hoc tests were made to determine significances for TIE treatments.
The results showed that the toxicity of the polymer. And the degradation of products. After four days, raincoat is toxic to aquatic LC50 test value equals 7.49% survival of the species tested 48 hours.
