It might be too far fetched to link subclinical undernutrition as defined as ‘wasting’, ‘stunting’ and ‘underweight’ within the Northeast of Thailand 30 years ago and the example of the ‘Dutch Hunger Winter’ but it cannot be denied that ‘wasting’ and ‘stunting’ of preschool children thirty years ago might nowadays contribute to the high prevalence of T2DM, hypertension and dyslipidemia in the Northeast of Thailand (13).
