It is the contention here that many teachers do not know the intricacies of the art
of questioning. It is something which has received little or no attention by
teachers, including student teachers in training institution. Teachers must not
only know the type of questions they ask their students, they must also know
how and when to ask them. This paper attempt to define the purpose of
questioning at different stages of a lesson, point out some of the advantages of
questioning the students and describe the technique of questioning. This, it is
hoped, will help the upcoming and every other teacher, to improve.
