Think of a company that's not stuck in the overproduction mode. It's not easy, is it? A couple of simple products come to mind as good examples. They are toothpicks and golf tees.
These products started innocently enough, but have evolved into something as unmanageable as your furniture plant. Consider toothpicks, for example. I recall when the toothpick was a flat, tapered stick that was sold in a wooden box. It wasn't very sturdy and had only one pointed end, so it was a truly disposable, one-time-use item.
