respectively. The silt fraction varied from 36.4% to 71.4% (average
50.3%), and the clay fraction ranged from 5.9% to 63.6% (average
47.5%). High concentrations of clay were observed in the central
portion of the investigated area. However, the difference in grain
size among sediments in the inner portion of the surveyed region
was insignificant, which may nevertheless facilitate the interpretation
of geochemical data. Low TOC contents were found in the sediments
from the 17 stations, ranging from 0.07% to 0.54%, with an
average of 0.25%.
