Only a very few experimental studies have examined the effects of different pedagogical approaches on the learning of pre-service students in special education (Brownell, Ross, Colón & McCallum, 2003). The comparative research that documents the characteristics of effective teacher preparation programs for early childhood special education seems important because policymakers and program practitioners need alternative choices between different ways of preparing quality teachers in order to possibly improve the “product reliability.”Taiwanese model of teacher preparation for early childhood special education compared with some other countries might have its unique charateristics. Nevertheless, the “product reliability” of teacher preparation for early childhood special education in Taiwan seems to be worth a need to further investigate.
