The article begins with a discussion of the literature on HRM and its effects on
organizational performance. It moves on to give a brief introduction to the hotel
industry environment within Barbados. The next section discusses the research
method used, built upon the approach used by Hoque (1999) to investigate the
HRM–performance link. The research findings are then presented and conclusions
drawn. Finally, the limitations of the study are considered and suggestions for
further research are offered.
