Big snowstorm for the Midwest, then the Northeast...
Janice Dean | Meteorologist
Hi All!
I see you’re getting set for a big Superbowl game tonight. Woohoo! Bring on the snacks! I do hope everyone is safe and not traveling if you live in the Midwest, because heavy snow is falling from Des Moines thru Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland.
Chicago is under a blizzard warning until midnight where in addition to over a foot of snow, winds of 40 mph will cause white-out conditions.
Then the storm makes a bee-line to the Northeast. New England will once again get a jackpot of snow. Boston could get over a foot and a half of new snow on top of the close to two feet they received a week ago. New York will see snow overnight and likely 2-5″ by morning.
South of New York, it will be just a cold rain for those in Philly and D.C. New York/New Jersey and Long Island is a trick forecast because we’re right on the rain/snow line.
There are concerns that ICE will be a big concern for the rush hour commute, so if you live in these areas please pay attention to your local forecasts, and be on alert.
I’ll keep you posted from here. Until then, have a wonderful Sunday
