Street artist Sean Yoro, who also goes by the name HULA, created murals that appear on pieces of broken icebergs in North America titled ‘A’o ‘Ana‘. Yoro is known for his large painted murals of women on spectacular places around the world, such as having applied his artworks on various seaside locations, which we’ve featured before. To create the pieces, Yoro uses oil paint on mounted acrylic sheet and his latest artworks inhabit a surreal and subversive touch.
In a statement about his latest project, Yoro says: “In the short time I was there, I witnessed the extreme melting rate first hand as the sound of ice cracking was a constant background noise while painting. Within a few weeks these murals will be forever gone, but for those who find them, I hope they ignite a sense of urgency, as they represent the millions of people in need of our help who are already being affected from the rising sea levels of climate change.”
