Protein purification
Lectin from mature seeds of P. biglobosa (collected in Bolama, Guinea Bissau) was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation (0–60% saturation), followed by affinity chromatography on a Sephadex G-100 column, as described by Silva et al. [6]. P. platycephala lectin was purified from mature seeds collected in the State of Ceará in northeast Brazil by ammonium sulfate precipitation (0–40% saturation), followed by two steps of affinity chromatography on Sephadex G-100 and Mannose-Agarose column, as described by Cavada et al.
