This quality improvement study used

This quality improvement study used a time series design
(Speroff & O’Conner 2004) and statistical process control
(SPC) analysis (Benneyan et al. 2003). We hypothesised
that a new nursing ICU discharge process would decrease
delay time per patient. Secondary outcomes we believed
would show no difference included mortality after ICU
discharge and ICU readmission within 72 hours.
