Congratulations to you and your children on a fantastic year 6 PYP Exhibition!
As the year 6 students enter the month of June they are almost at the end of their primary education. In a couple of months they will be secondary students. This is an exciting, new challenge for parents and children alike!
In order to make your child’s transition as smooth as possible, we will be working closely with Year 6 students and staff over the next few weeks. There will be a number of events taking place, including a Year 6 Parents and Students Meeting on Monday June 13th starting at 3.30pm. This meeting will be held in the Performance Hall in the school canteen and all parents and students are encouraged to attend.
The meeting will help students and parents find out about the new challenges they will face moving into Year 7, what the academic standards and expectations are and also provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
Other activities in the next couple of weeks that will help the transition of students from Year 6 to Year 7 include:
Joining Year 7 and 8 for their first Key Stage 3 assembly
Participating in more buddy style activities with year 7 students
On June 20 or June 21 spending a day in secondary where they will be teamed up with a Year 7 student.
We find that all these experiences for your child, will make the change into Secondary School a much more smoother and enjoyable transition.
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting on Tuesday June 13. If you have any questions before the meeting please feel free to email me or drop in to see me at school.
Yours sincerely,
