Samples of apple (Malus domestica), Gala variety, and blueberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), Bluegem and Climax varieties, were har-vested in farms from Caxias do Sul, Brazil. Butia palm fruits (Butiaeriospatha) were obtained from orchards in Erechim, Brazil. All fruits were harvested during the summer 2009e2010. The fruits were first selected and carefully washed with tap water, before being processed. Apple juice was produced through centrifugation (WALITA, Brazil). Butia palm fruit juice was processed in a hori- zontal pulp-processing machine (TOMASI, Brazil). Blueberry juice was produced through the liquefaction of equal amounts of Blue-gem and Climax varieties using an industrial blender (METVISA,Brazil) and then filtered through a 10 mesh sieve.
