My name is Sally Grant and I have been the lead cashier for the last 3 years at Grant’s Great Groceries on the square in Irondale Alabama. The store is owned by my uncle, Phillip Grant, who has provided me with excellent training and opportunities to learn other aspects of store operations along with cashiering. Although he does not want me to leave, he is very supportive of my desire to move to a different type of food store.
As much as I appreciate the training I have received at Grant’s, I prefer to work at an establishment that sells all organic food products such as The Organic Market in downtown Birmingham. Proper nutrition is extremely important to me; therefore I aspire to work for an organization that sells the healthiest possible fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry and fish. I do most of my shopping at The Organic Market and am a huge fan of the exotic herbs and spices, the choices of gluten-free products as well as the whole wheat flours and raw sugars. The wine selections are splendid as are the fresh baked breads. It would be my pleasure to work for a market that provides such a high quality selection of products.
I have vast experience as a cashier and am highly skilled at math and computer technology. During my 3 years working at Grant’s I have attended online classes and earned an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science. My cash drawer is rarely out of balance as I am exceedingly careful with all customers’ money. I am proficient on the Micros Point of Sale System as well as various credit card systems. Although I am related to the owner of Grant’s, I was still required to take and pass a criminal background check and drug test like all other employees.
Please consider my attached resume and application when you need a new cashier at The Organic Market. I am happy to come by your office for an interview. I can be contacted on my cell phone at 555-555-5555 or by email at email@email.com. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
