A significant decrease in abundance was observed in 2 of the main known cellulolytic bacterial species
(Figure 2A; Supplementary Table S4, http://dx.doi. org/10.3168/jds.2013-7192). This could stem from the
existence of other uncultured cellulolytic bacteria that could potentially occupy this niche when the abundance
of F. succinogenes and R. flavefaciens decreased. Similar trends were recently observed in another work in which cellulolytic bacteria count decreased, even though cellulose degradation did not decrease and even increased (Jami et al. 2012)
