One way to interpret our results is with regard to Goodale and Milner’s (1992, Goodale and Milner,
1995, 2008) two visual systems model. In line with this model, the adult participants in our study
showed different processing strategies in perception and action. Children, in contrast, showed more
interactive processing in both perception and action tasks and, therefore, showed no functional dissociation.
Our findings might suggest, on the one hand, interrelations between object processing in perception
and action during childhood and, on the other, a developmental trend toward an increasing
functional independence of perception and action with age
