IDEAS FOR ADAPTING AND EXTENDING THIS CAT
Provide students with a list of possible subjects: individuals who are widely regarded as admirable and about whom the students can write profiles if they have no candidates of their own.
Direct students to reread their profile and to rank,in order of importance, the characteristics and values their subjects embody.
Ask students to write second, parallel profiles of individuals who are distinctly not admirable and to explain what accounts for their negative appraisals.
Have students work in small groups, with each member reading the profiles written by others. Ask each group to draw up a composite list of qualitites that characterize admirable individuals in your field.
