It is one of the biggest pharmaceuticals company in India. Most of its revenue stream is by making generic drugs by reverse engineering the chemical content of drugs produced by other major pharmaceuticals. One may say, it flouts certain patenting laws, but I would say its rather doing something good for the humanity and making profits at the same time. For example, its anti-AIDS drugs cost $300 annually in comparison to $12000 charged by other companies. And Indian government and judiciary also support this. A recent ruling by the Supreme Court didn't allow international drug maker Novartis to patent its anti-cancer drug 'Gleevac' in India.
