hydraulically isolates several fields, drains water tables, collects
overland field flow and routes water to the catchment outlet (Voltz
et al., 1998; Ribolzi et al., 2000; Louchart et al., 2001). The runoff
regime is non-permanent, and the runoff response to a rainfall
event is very short, varying from a few minutes at the field scale to
a few hours at the catchment scale. It is thus quite easy to relate a
runoff event to the associated rainfall event.
