The TM 100 antimicrobial test is a quantitative method in which assessment of antibacterial finishes on textile materials (fabric finishes, etc.) is determined by the degree of antibacterial activity.
Used to assess textiles treated with antimicrobial products as a part of the finished textile coating, TM 100 is a globally recognized antimicrobial textile test standard. AATCC 100 is used primarily to demonstrate efficacy against standard bacteria.
Standard microorganisms for the TM 100 are Staphylococcus aureus (Staph) and Klebsiella pneumonia (Klebsiella). Other bacteria and fungi can be substituted and the average turnaround is 4-5 days. Express orders can be made for TM 100 as with most other antibacterial and antimicrobial tests.
AATCC 100 can also be set up for durability assessments of textile materials to pre-treat fabrics (accelerated aging, UV exposure, wash equivalents) prior to running the test.
A common durability assesment, AATCC 61 provides for home laundering of samples and can be tailored to a range of wash cycles.
