The changing relationships between tourism and host cultures, and the reasons how and why conflicts emerge, are explored through a series of case studies from many parts of the world including the UK, the USA< Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, Tunisia, Spain, Peru and Greece. Initiatives and good practices are highlighted whereby conflict can be replaced by consensus and situations improved through effective management. They identify varying degrees of conflict, various routes of its expression through different cultural levels, and the ways in which it is managed, attenuated, avoided or ignored.
